Nando's has 30 Halal restaurants in London and many more across the UK.
Halal stores buy their Halal-certified chicken from Shazan Foods Ltd and Freemans of Newent which are both Halal-certified suppliers of poultry. Shazan Foods can often be found in the frozen meat section of Tesco stores that serve Halal.
On their website, Nando's specifically mentions the following in regards to Halal chicken and poultry standars:
"We’re committed to the highest standards and therefore the quality, welfare and health of our chicken is a priority. Our suppliers follow the strict Red Tractor Farm Assurance Standards. All our chickens are indoor-reared. They are pre-stunned which minimises suffering and fear. The method used is a high frequency stun – this means the chicken is still alive, but unconscious when it is hand slaughtered and blessed by licensed Muslim slaughter men."
They also confirm that their Halal products are clearly segregated at their suppliers and distribution centres. This means there is no chance of any cross-contamination of Halal chicken with non-Halal chicken.
It is important to note that not all Nando's stores are Halal. Below is a list of all Halal Nando's stores. Last updated for 2023.
