Macellaio RC South Kensington

This has got to be one of my favorite steaks in London! Everything about the place shows how serious they are about their beef. I'd happily go back and might even try their burger because that looked good! Service was amazing and probably one of the better during this trip.

Went to this restaurant for my bday dinner and was disappointed. After seeing videos about how Macellaio works/operates, I was very looking forward the whole thing of meat being brought to table before preparing or maybe being offered to go to counter and pick a cut. None of this happened. Disappointing, moreover if just a few minutes later other table was served as I saw it on video. I am not a chef and I was not exactly sure what I am ordering. If I saw the cut I would not order it. The rib eye steak was very very greasy. At least whole half of my cut was grisly and I had to leave it. We had bone marrow for starter which was quite nice. And my favourite beef tartar was very disappointing too. This is starter I order regularly and tartar in Macellaio was cut very thick and was completely missing traditional seasonings and it was served with only 2 tiny crackers. They would never be enough for the portion. We had to order extra bread. Who would want to eat raw meat on its own?
On the other hand I must say that staff was absolutely amazing. Service was very good! They as well sang Happy birthday for me and I got very lively brownie. Thank you very much for this.

One of the best steaks I ever ate. Service was perfect, always there one time and friendly. Feels a bit like home but with the extra of having great steaks and watching a butcher exceling in his profession. Underestimated Restaurant. Looking forward to the next steak at Macellaio. Thanks.

Really nice place and definitely high-end. Staff is really nice, helpfull and friendly. Very modern decoration. Meat is good but what a price ! If good meat is priceless for you then have a go.

What a nice little butcher/restaurant. You pick your meat size depending on how hungry you are.  You can have. 200gr steak or a hefty 900gr with bone. The service is friendly and helpful. The meat apparently comes from Italy. The menu is really nice with the sides and desserts as well. If you are looking to have great meat in a nice atmosphere and if you are aroumd, do not miss it. Make sure you have a reservation though, if you want to make sure you have a seat, it is usually busy.
