Came here with high expectations as been eating at Patty & Bun James St since it opened around 8 or 9 years ago. Don't waste your time! Just a whole chicken on its own was £25. Me and my partner could not justify how a chicken can be so expensive! And that's without any sides or salads! We ordered some fries and crispy potatoes (1 of the cheapest carbs on planet Earth) and our bill total was £50!! If you want hot sauce or aioli it's £2.50 each! What a rip off! I had the peri and it was very subtle in flavour. Our home peri is tastier than this for a fraction of the cost. The green beans salad was tastless and lacking in seasoning. All in all was extremely disappointed and won't be coming back. To top it off my partner had a funny tummy and was going toilet for 2 days b4 she was back to normal. Save yourself the hassle and stick to Nandos or skip right past and get yourself the best burger in England at Patty & Bun.

Went here a couple of months ago with friends. Service was lovely - very friendly and welcoming staff. The chicken itself had skin on it, which I don't like. Problem is the seasoning (I chose zaatar) is ontop of the skin, so if you remove the skin you're left with flavourless chicken, although cooked very well. I was really looking forward to the potatoes and expected them to be fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside - they weren't. Two friends ordered the peri peri chicken, which was too salty for both of them. We mentioned this to the waitress and they offered us complimentary desserts. All in all, this restaurant was very overpriced for the quality of meal we were served. I see that it's currently temporarily closed so perhaps they're making a few changes.

Really don't understand the hype. The vibes were nice and service was great, but the actual food itself was a bit disappointing. The aubergine side was nice (if you like smokey flavoured aubergine, otherwise it can be quite overpowering), the chicken itself (I got the lemon and herb) wasn't really that tasty and had a bit too much salt, the crispy potatoes were definitely not crispy, and just weren't great potatoes in general (which is hard to get wrong, really). The waitress was super sweet and gave us a few desserts on the house - the tres leche ice cream was the best thing about coming here.

This is NOT it. So expensive and for what? We ordered the peri peri chicken and the crispy potatoes and there was no flavour at all. It was so disappointing!! We were considering not even coming in when we saw the prices outside the place but we figured it must be really good to charge 12.50 for half a chicken. We would have ordered more sauces but they would have just made it more expensive and wouldn’t have made up for the fact that it was literally just bland chicken. Where’s the kick of the peri peri? My friend left her entire meal untouched and we all left the crispy potatoes (3 portions). The good thing is that the chicken isn’t dry and the staff were super nice. However, that’s not enough to bring me back here nor can I recommend this place to anyone else.

Really nice sides and friendly service. We tried the peri peri chicken. It was tender and came boneless, but the flavour was not particularly strong which was a let down.
