This was our second visit to Hankies Restaurant (excluding the Café) and the food was as good as always, but it’s fair to say there was an elephant in the room this time round... We opted for the vegetarian options this time as we were accompanied by our good friends @vegetarian.affairs . The Bhindi Bhel, Kofta and Peshwaari Naan were definitely our favourites, which were full of a variety of flavours- zesty, spicy and sweet! Those three alone were the highlights of the show. The Paneer at Hankies is more soft and cheesy compared to other places- down to preference how you like your paneer (we like it creamy in curry, but spicy as a small plate🌶). We weren’t so keen on the Lassis as they were more rich in yoghurt, however they do offer a blueberry flavour, which is different.

Now down to the elephant in the room- for such a beautiful restaurant, it’s a shame that the service was not up to scratch contrary to our first visit a year ago. The waiter was highly irritating and didn’t give us a second to breathe (like a fly that just doesn’t go away!) To top it off, it was hilarious when he dropped a spoon while serving the dishes as if it was his first time. Not quite the high end service you’re used to 👀😂 All in all, Hankies is a great place for occasions- good settings and decent food (the non-veg options are definitely better). They also allow you to take in a cake free of charge 👍🏽

It’s been yearssss I haven’t had this solid old skool spot. I’m sure most remember how hankies serve some of the best dishes. I’ve only been to their soho branch. This Marble Arch branch is much better in terms of decor and atmosphere

These chops were amazing. I remember how amazing these were but after having it again, damn absolutely amazing. Full on flavour points. The fat parts gave extra juices.

Butter chicken was also amazing. One place I don’t have to ask to add spice on butter chicken. Because it comes spicy, also one spot that uses thigh pieces. Just pure buttery smooth heaven

Most know I’m a chops and keema curry guys at home. Why don’t Indian restaurants serve keema. I think this and one other place only serve keema. Love keema curry. This keema was really tasty. Probably would’ve wanted a little more bhuna but in terms of spice and flavours, it was spot on

Tawa Pulao saffron infused Biryani style, I love my currified Biryani. But I do appreciate simple saffron flavoured Biryani. This with a curry is perfect, not on its own. Chicken mantu is a must try. Chicken Murgh was soft and juicy thigh.

All in all good here was on point. However one thing I realised was the portion sizes. This place was known for big portion sizes, and now the sizes were smaller than before. Apart from that, food was on point

If you love hearty curries with a touch of refinement, then @hankiesmarblearch is a must visit.

The vibrant colours coupled with the rich flavours are the reason why @hankiesmarblearch has been a go to place for many people after a long day of retail therapy.

We tried the following dishes:
Mantu £10.50
Keema Naan £7.50
Lamb Chop £15.00
Gost 5oz Ribeye £22.00
Butter Chicken £16.00
Tawa Pulao £15.00
Chocolate Gola £8.00 

On this occasion, a couple of dishes could have benefited from some improvement. 

I first tried the Gost Ribeye Steak a few years back and it was stunning, but this time, while the flavours were sublime, it was over cooked for my liking.

The Chocolate Gola dessert looked great, but the flavour profiles were just not to our preference.

However, most of the other dishes were tasty and satisfying. 

The Butter Chicken was divine. 
Mantu dumplings were delicious.
Keema naan was gorgeous.

I'm a big fan of @hankiesmarblearch, so definitely give them a try.

We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Hankies for lunch on Saturday afternoon. Upon arrival the staff were very friendly, well equipped with PPE and very welcoming. We were offered between the choice of the Indian menu or the European menu. We decided to go with the European menu and the food was absolutely exquisite. Very nicely presented, tasted delicious and arrived in a timely manner. Overall thoroughly enjoyed our experience and the ambience. Highly recommended

Food was tasty but unfortunately the portions for the mains were disappointing. Very small portions. Pretty much a joke. No rice option. The starters were nice like the mandu. Wont be going back as i was not satisfied.

Hankies restaurant specialises in small plates of Indian fusion cooking by taking casual Delhi street food and elevating it to something far more sophisticated.

Not only has chef Anirudh Arora given great thought and consideration to each dish, but also possesses the requisite skills for pulling off what is an ambitious and innovative little menu.

What's more, if the prices aren't enough to entice you down, especially given the location (Marble Arch of all places), then our review and the final rating ought to.

NOTE: The duck, which was sadly unavailable on the evening of our review, is now Halal.

Amazing venue. Warm welcoming and one of those places to just come and chill out. Very relaxing decor and staff are attentive. Please please order the naan with truffle shavings, with extra ghee.. liquidity pleasure with the taste of truffle.. :)

Nice restaurant but customer service good be better. Food portions are quite small but the flavours are nice. Very slow service.
