Went to this restaurant last week and had some incredible Fish with Atieke accompanied by a delicious sauce and succulent bread. Food was so good I went back tonight, however things were not the same. Same meal, same price but this time the fish was dry, hard and salty. The bread was equally dry and the plantain hard and tasteless. This restaurant is really inconsistent and annoyingly paid $22.00 for the privilege. Clearly it was reheated food from yesterday or so. That's was exactly what the taste and texture felt like. I'm an experienced reviewer, and historically I am fair and just but tonight was just disappointing.

Friendly Senegalese restaurant in Harlem with tasty, traditional food and generous portions, though the amount of fish with the tieboudienne is a bit small relative to the amount of rice. The atmosphere is typical of what you would experience in Senegal, including the TV channels. Customers chat with each other, sometimes across tables, while waiting for their meals. Don’t be surprised that not every dish on the menu is available every day. Look at the daily specials section to see what they have that day. (Every Senegalese restaurant I’ve been to does this, but this is the only one I saw with the daily specials list.) I brought a friend who had never had Senegalese food before and she liked both dishes.

Very bad experience today. I went out there with a friend to buy Grilled fish and Atieke. We placed 2 orders and the man there told us to come back in 10 mins. Upon returning for the food, my friend also purchased a side order of fried plantains. We paid $39 and took the food home. To our dismay, the fish was brown on the inside, very dry and did not look fresh at all. It must have been at least a day or two old fish that had just been reheated for us . The fried plantains were also hard, difficult to chew and seemed old - it had definitely been refried. We were both so upset to say the least . We had to throw the entire food away. It is so sad that this restaurant has no consistency at all - one day the food might be good and the next time you go , that same food is horrible and absolutely a waste of your money and time. They need to ALWAYS throw away left over food from previous days and not reheat and sell to unsuspecting customers. They deserve a 0 star if that was an option.

Great place for East African food I really appreciate the welcome in this restaurant. The tieb, the fried chicken and the plantain babana was typically what we can eat in Senegal. Convivial and pleasant service by Coumba and her team, thank you very much. The restaurant lacks a bit of light and not easy to identify externaly but a great ambiance.
