Giggling Squid

We had a mixed experience at giggling Squid it wasn't crowded so we didn't think there is any pressure on service or tables but they just weren't up to our expectations food arrived overcooked and tough to choose so if you order the pork dish it just was not easy to chew the flavours were very good and the presentation was good. We had  a lamb shank massaman which didn't have a lot of flavour.  We had the crispy chicken which was very dry. But they got something wrong with the order and tried to charge for a drink that we didn't order. I just felt it was not up to the expectations of a restaurant that should be a high-end Thai restaurant.

4.5 stars for prompt friendly service (we sat in 1 of the 2 outdoor tables in the front) at peak dinner time on a Saturday evening. 

Duck spring rolls were tasty with good portions, pad thai on the smaller side (but very tasty & only £9) & the beef red curry was creamy & buttery (with a bit of sweetness). 

Total bill with 2 glasses of wine was ~43£. 

Would definitely come back!

I came here for my friends neices birthday! It has a really good atmosphere and the food is also nice. The staff are all attentive and i even ended up giving a nice tip... I had the Salmon paneang which was delicious with the jasmine rice

Tuesday afternoon, pre booked. We arrived on time at half 3 for our booking as a family of four (2 adults and 2 young children). We weren’t greeted at all at the door just stared at. We were ushered to a table with the only communication being repeatedly told we had to finish by 1722 and then lastly that changed to 1645. The front of house staff member bordered on outright rude & had it not been the children’s tea time we would certainly have gone elsewhere.

On a positive note the food was fantastic.

We were presented with an incorrect bill, when we questioned it we received no apology, just ushered another 5 minutes later as if we had caused offense. Upon leaving no thank you, no goodbye in a restaurant with 5 covers. We will try Giggling Squid again....it just won’t be in Wimbledon. Sort out your front of house.

Service was brilliant but I had the worst pad Thai - I think that recipe could use improving as I couldn’t eat it. However Calamari was lovely. I would however visit again but I wouldn’t order that.

Lamb and chicken in all our restaurants is halal. In the wok we cook all meat separately, one at a time, cleaning the wok after every use. Chicken and pork are cooked on the same grill but in different designated areas. Chicken and fish are cooked in the same fryer but not together. We do not cook pork in the fryer.
